Morocco Desert tour 4 Day

1ˢᵗ Day: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Benhaddou – Skoura Oasis – Rose Valley – Dades Valley (6 hours drive, 330 km)

We begin our Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour with a morning pick-up from your accommodation or the airport. Then, head towards the High Atlas Mountains, we cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, which reaches 2,600 meters. Along the way, we stop at an Argan oil cooperative to learn about traditional oil-making techniques.

After a scenic drive, we arrive at the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, famous for its earthen architecture and Hollywood connections. We enjoy a guided tour followed by lunch at a local restaurant.

Next, we pass through Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Morocco.” In the Skoura Oasis, we admire lush palm groves and the historic Amridil Kasbah. Continuing, we drive through the Rose Valley, known for its rosewater and its vibrant annual festival. The day ends in the Dades Valley, where we stay at a cozy riad. Dinner and mint tea await us.

2ⁿᵈ Day: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert (6 hours drive, 270 km)

After breakfast, we explore the dramatic Dades Gorge, known for its stunning landscapes and unique Monkey Toes rock formations. Then, we head to Tinghir, a town surrounded by lush palm groves and Berber villages. At the Todra Gorge, we take a short walk along the towering canyon walls that rise up to 300 meters.

Our journey continues to Erfoud, famous for its fossils and lively markets. If time allows, we visit a fossil museum to explore the area’s prehistoric treasures. From Erfoud, we drive to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert.

Here, we embark on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes, some rising as high as 150 meters. We enjoy a stunning sunset before arriving at our luxury desert camp. Dinner is served under the stars, followed by traditional drumming and stargazing.

3ʳᵈ Day: Merzouga 4×4 desert excursion (4 hours drive, 50 km)

We start the day with breakfast before embarking on a 4×4 excursion to uncover the Sahara Desert’s hidden gems. Our first stop is the Tissardmin Oasis, where we explore natural springs and fossilized landscapes. Next, we visit a nomadic family to gain insight into their traditional lifestyle.

Later, we head to Khamlia village for a captivating Gnawa music performance while sipping mint tea. Afterward, we savor a traditional Berber lunch.

In the afternoon, we set off on another camel trek to witness a magical sunset over the dunes. Back at our luxury camp, the evening features cultural entertainment, drumming, and more stargazing.

4ᵗʰ Day: Merzouga Desert – Ziz Palm Grove – Atlas Mountains – Fes (8 hours drive, 460 km)

We wake up early to experience the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, we leave Merzouga and drive through the lush Ziz Palm Grove, where endless date palms stretch into the horizon.

Our journey takes us through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Midelt, a town known for its apple orchards and bustling markets. Continuing, we visit the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to playful Barbary apes.

After a lunch break, we pass through Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and clean environment. Finally, we arrive in Fes, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation. This marks the end of our incredible Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour.
